Hair Transplant Clinics

When it comes to hair transplants and any other form of hair loss treatment, many people are not aware of the pitfalls and the scope of this medical specialty. It is true that some patients may understand the basic science behind the procedure, but few  will have a grasp of the aesthetics and artistry required of the most demanding of all cosmetic procedures.

It is also very unfortunate that many of the physicians who perform these procedures are as ill-informed as their patients. In today’s flashy marketing and high-pressure sales dominated industry, making truly informed objective and rational decisions has become nearly impossible. Modern hair transplant clinics have become not so much centres which cater for their patients, but more of a business that serves consumers.

Given the amount of people throughout the world who are losing their hair because of many different reasons, it is not surprising that the growth of hair transplant clinics is increasing dramatically. It is also very big business and the amount of money invested in research into hair loss treatment and restoration is immense.

For centuries the only effective way to fight hair loss was to cover the scalp with a hair piece, however, given technological advancement, hair replacement is becoming much more effective and remains a major option in fighting the effects of hair loss.

Within the last century through investment and the growth of research and hair transplant clinics, three more options have opened up for aiding hair loss. These include, surgical restoration of hair, conventional medical drug treatment for hair loss, and alternative medical treatment for hair loss. Hair transplant clinics have of course been central to the development of these treatments because of the experience they have gained through the treatment of their patients.

It is such big business that in the United States of America and in countries throughout the world, hair transplant clinics pay large amounts of money for television commercials and for glossy advertisements in well read, popular magazines.
